MIGUEL RIOS Vol. 4 SUS PRIMERAS GRABACIONES EN DISCOS HISPAVOX (1969-1973)
After his debut with the Philips label and a brief stint with the Sonoplay label, Miguel Ríos joined Hispavox in 1969, ready to take off and have an impressive national and international career in just a few years. This triple album, which we released at the time under the umbrella of the EMI label, returns to our repertoire with minor changes. For example, recovering the order and sound of his “Conciertos de rock y amor” (Rock and Love Concerts) that had been altered since its first edition on vinyl. But the important thing is not to fix those minor errors, but to contemplate the evolution of the work of the singer from Granada in those barely five years of career. He began by relying on pop composers of the moment, such as Fernando Arbex, Alfonso Sainz or the singer-songwriter María Ostiz. He showed his first skills as a composer in the initial singles, showed us another way of facing multitudinous recitals with the already mentioned rock and love concerts and rose in the world charts interpreting the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony: "Hymn to Joy" and also in other adaptations from Charpentier's "Te Deum", Joaquín Rodrigo's "Concerto de Aranjuez" or Dvorak's "Sinfonía del Nuevo Mundo". A versatile singer shines both in rock and ballads. In his last recordings of the third CD, his stage of conceptual albums can already be seen, anticipating the album "Memorias de un ser humano" with which he would end his relationship with the label.
NOTE: We have tried, in the order of our album, to unite the versions in Spanish and English so that they can be listened to one after the other, even though this was not the order of the edition. We have also included songs unreleased in Spain that appeared in the edition of his North American album. We have not included his latest album on Hispavox (Memorias de un ser humano) nor the two songs from his latest single, which appear on our album “Miguel Ríos, vol. 3”
